According to the United States Census Bureau, the village has a total area of 1.32 square miles (3.42 km 2), of which 1.28 square miles (3.32 km 2) is land and 0.04 square miles (0.10 km 2) is water. įor many years beginning in the 1880s, public life in Cedarville centered around the downtown Cedarville Opera House it survives to the present day, and is listed on the National Register of Historic Places. The present name is for cedar trees near the original town site. A post office called Massies Creek was established in 1837, and the name was changed to Cedarville in 1843. The population was 4,257 at the 2020 census.Ĭedarville was originally known as Milford, and under the latter name was platted in 1816. The village is within the Dayton Metropolitan Statistical Area.
